Biography

Sylvana Labeyrie is a French harpist, she began playing the harp at the age of 8, a few years later she joined her first orchestra the JOSEM, with which she recorded CDs and turned Eastern Europe. At that time, Sylvana was also singing with the Bordeaux Opera youth choir, taking the time to study Irish music on the violin, as well as a bit of bassoon.

In 2011 Sylvana moved to England to study at the Royal College of Music where she studied with the well know pedagoge Daphne Boden as well as the international harpist Eleanor Turner.

Since 2013 Sylvana is writing her own music using traditional compositional technic as well as electronic composition using softwar.

Working along side composers, two pieces have been dedicated to her, Dépression atmosphérique by the Italian composer G.Gozzi and Étude Pédalogique by the slovenian composer J. Gorjanc.

Sylvana has won second price at the international harp competition Suoni D’arpa in Italy as well as at the international Concours Français de la Harpe in France, she has as well received a special price at the 2012’s North London harp competition in England.

Sylvana has been selected to be part of the evole schema, playing alongside Alison Martin, under the baton of Edward Gardner.

Since 2016, Sylvana has moved back to France where she teaches as well as gives concerts. Under the name of « Lamidodo », the harpist is developing activities for young children to discover live music.
